I am Ayda Akbelen, founder of Life Work Solutions, LLC. We hope you find inspiration from reading the success stories of our clients. Having been privileged to be a part of my clients' journeys at different points in their careers, I helped them succeed in their endeavors. As a trusted advisor, I am regularly retained by senior executives, young and seasoned professionals, corporations, non-profits, and small business owners to help them figure out a happy solution to one of the most important aspects of life: work.


My Approach


I have an eclectic orientation to my work and draw from a unique background as HR executive, career counselor and organizational development consultant for global institutions and a licensed psychotherapist with extensive knowledge of workplace challenges impacting mental health. Having been in the people development field for over 25 years, I partner with organizations and colleagues to bring the highest level of professionalism and expertise. 


My priority is to listen and ask the right questions to get to the root cause of your concerns. I will quickly make you feel comfortable expressing your thoughts and feelings. I take a broader view, looking both at influences of your environment and internalized values to understand the choices you make. I will empower you to get out of your comfort zone to propel your development forward at work and in your personal life.    


Industry Experience


I have consulted to and worked with employees of law firms,  asset management companies, accounting firms, healthcare organizations, advertising agencies, consulting firms, consumer products companies, small businesses and non-profits. I also have extensive experience in financial services, having served as Vice President of Career Services at Citibank and as a consultant to JPMorgan Chase, coaching technology professionals worldwide participating in their Expert Engineer program. I help IT professionals develop influencing and leadership skills to facilitate best practices and innovation. 


Academic Background, Licenses and Certifications


I am a national board-certified and New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I have two professional degrees: an MA in Counseling from New York University and MSW in Clinical Social Work from Fordham University.  In addition, I have received post graduate training in family therapy at the renowned Ackerman Institute in New York City.  I have regularly presented at NYU's School of Continuing Education on Family Influences on Careers and taught a graduate course in Career Development as an adjunct professor at The New School for Social Research.
